Our South Hills Academy Eagles nest was full of excitement this past Friday, January 19th as we hosted the ACSI Spelling Bee. In addition to our own SHA Eagles, we were visited by students, parents, and coaches from five other Christian schools across the San Gabriel Valley who also participated in the competition.
We were all so proud of our participants as they worked their way through spelling many difficult words – some of which even the adults were stumped on! We were thrilled for our winners and so incredibly happy for everyone who participated.

No doubt spelling bees can be stressful and certainly come with pressure, but there are many benefits to participating in these competitions. Spelling bees help students build confidence in themselves, allow them to explore public speaking opportunities, give them a chance to build poise under pressure, encourage students to set goals for themselves, and allow them to learn the importance of a strong work ethic.

We wish all the winners the best of luck as they move on to the district level of the ACSI Spelling Bee, and look forward to hosting more opportunities for our students to learn and grow in their education.
