As an elementary math teacher, Ms. Hammond helps students establish a strong foundation for this daunting subject. Whether it’s multiplication and division, or making graphs and charts, Ms. Hammond is there to ensure students have an understanding for these mathematic concepts.
When she’s not busy shaping young minds at SHA, Ms. Hammond likes to spend time with her family at a Dodgers or Broncos game. Read on to learn more about Ms. Hammond.
What is your educational background?
I graduated from California Polytechnic State University and received my bachelor of arts degree in Liberal Studies.
Why do you want to teach?
I want to teach because I get the opportunity to impact the lives of future generations. This is a way to serve my community and to be someone students can turn to.
Describe your teaching experience.
I have 12 units of child development and I also have experience working in schools.
What is your teaching philosophy?
Every child learns differently. I like to use different methods to help students understand and retain the material they learn.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I spend time with my family and friends, read, and go on trips to the beach or mountains.
What are 3 fun facts about yourself?
1.) I was the only sibling to be born in a different state (Colorado).
2.) I’m the only person in my immediate family to graduate from college.
3.) My family has a family recipe of Short Bread that only the women are able to learn.
