Academics
The curriculum at South Hills Academy is traditional, especially in the lower grades.  An emphasis is placed on basic skills in Reading, Language, Mathematics, Social Science, Science, Creative Writing, and Penmanship.  Critical thinking skills are taught and reinforced curriculum-wide at all grade levels.

South Hills Academy is known for accelerated learning.  We have a challenging program with students working at a grade level higher in mathematics.  Cursive writing is taught in kindergarten.

Pre School

We offer Abeka and Houghton-Mifflin curriculum (Pre-K) in our 2.0 to 5 years old classes. The children are instructed in our phonics driven curriculum during our five day a week program.

Elementary / Junior High

The Elementary / Junior High Department at South Hills Academy focuses on advanced studies in Mathematics, History, Science, Language, Literature, and Bible.  Algebra and Advanced Mathematics are considered core in seventh and eighth grade.

History covers world events, development, and American history.  Science includes: botany, human anatomy, meteorology, chemistry, astronomy, thermodynamics, electricity, and magnetism with a Science Fair in the  spring.

Literature is introduced with class discussion. Critical thinking and comprehension are reinforced through oral or written comprehension exercises or book reports/projects.
